I totally enjoyed my conversations with the elves. It was as though they wanted to talk to me as much as I wanted to talk to them. I supposed it was because they didn't often get to speak with anyone from the outside world.
I met up with Bubbles on my way over to the Design Department. He asked me to join him at the Whispering Pines Club, and I said yes since I was always happy to see him. We discussed many things over a mug of hot spiced cider. He shared with me how the Bubble Dome had come about. I listened very intently so I wouldn't miss any details. I told him he was an awesome design engineer. He laughed and said, "All I do is look at a situation and try my best to make it better." I was so impressed, I told him, "Your creativity on this project is one of the greatest design concepts I have ever seen in my entire life." Indeed, Bubbles. Bubble Dome left me wondering how soon I would be able to tell everyone back home about it.
Bubbles explained, "When I arrived at the North Pole, I observed the few buildings that were here at the time: the raindeer stables, Santa and Mrs. Claus's log house, and Wrinkles and Joy's little home. I also noticed their struggling gardens.
"Obviously, the biggest problem was the weather, since winter lasted the year-round. Because of the cold, all the plants had to be grown indoors. Everyone had every plant imaginable, all over the inside of their homes. It was really funny. Everywhere you looked there were all kinds of herbs and flowers, many of which I had never heard of or seen before. The inside of Santa's log home was like a tropical paradise. What an overwhelming pleasure! There were plants with huge leaves and plants with very tiny leaves. Some had budding flowers of vibrant hues that produced healing potions, while others were used for colorful decor. And of course, there were fruits and vegetables of every imaginable kind. I learned that the rich soil and special river water made all the plants grow quickly. Also, one big advantage from all of these plants was their wonderful fragrance.
"When the elves came home from work, this aroma soothed them to sleep. When they awoke a few hours later, the scent actually made them feel fully revived for the day. These indoor plants made the homes look more like greenhouses, but they didn't mind, because it only made their living quarters more homey. Santa and Mrs. Claus and the elves sang to their plants every day, making them flourish well and fast.
"We were not protected like these indoor plants, however. So, I went to work on an idea to take care of Santa, Mrs. Claus, Buddy, and the elves and their children. I knew I had to keep testing until it worked.
